Comfort House believes that the best way to develop skills in a social service setting is to be involved in an organization that matches your personal interests and is flexible in developing an education plan. We will work with interested interns and their schools to create a curriculum that meets the specific needs of the student and achieves the learning objectives of the school, while being an asset to our Organization.
All interns will go through an orientation process detailing the issues and dynamics of sexual assault work, acquainting the student with laws and standards, collaboration processes, advocacy skills, community education goals and data management. As interns work through these subjects, opportunities will be available for detailed discussion, helping the intern to develop individual interests and ideas. These ideas will be the basis of the Special Interest Project. Through this project the intern will develop and propose an action plan to the Board of Directors. Upon approval, the intern will set specific goals and evaluation measures which will be addressed upon completion. Specific skills must be included in the workings of the project.
Special Interest Project Ideas Include: Working with the education committee on a specific community group Writing a small grant Writing a brochure
